Basic Silversmithing

Our club offers Basic-level Silversmithing to its club members when a member volunteers for the position of tutor. The main techniques will be taught via a number of set projects.

NOTE: Before club members can commence any silversmithing, they must have undergone the Club Orientation (i.e. an Induction – a workplace health and safety requirement) which is ONLY available on a Tuesday or Thursday night (when the clubhouse is open).

Contact the tutor beforehand to gain a place in a workshop. Find out what to bring, and learn about the fee structure for each workshop.  If there is a waiting list, any member can add their name there, and will be contacted by the tutor.

Several times throughout the year, a visiting creative is invited to present a 6-hour course on an aspect of silversmithing. These are held on the weekend and usually there is a maximum capacity number who can attend.

A club member can now find their own piece of rough, cut and polish it and attend a silversmithing workshop to create the setting.
